No, but sitting in a blind watching a feeder isn't really hunting either.

I own a low fence and a high fence, I spend more time at the HF, it's fun watching those deer grow.

Spending many hunting seasons in Illinois, this doesn't suprise me at all. Those deer up there are different beasts.
Miles and miles of feed everywhere, so they get plenty of protein and corn.

Don't think Illinois allows deer feeders so you have to hunt them.

I was amazed the first deer hunt I went on in south Texas at how small the deer were here

I always get a laugh out of people who have never killed a deer without a feeder and a blind scoff at high fence ranches.

Like shooting a deer out of a blind over a feeder on your father in laws 30 acres is somehow more sporting or noble than the exact same scenario on a 1000 acre high fence place.

I have no issues with using a feeder, but if you want to make it hard on yourself ditch the box blind and spin feeder and hunt trails with a lock on climbing stand.

They are a different subspecies and are quite different from our Texas deer.

First deer I saw in Illinois blew my mind. This doe was over 200 lbs on the hoof. Giant whitetail.

The heaviest whitetail ever recorded to my knowledge weighed 511 lbs....can you imagine a deer the size of a cow elk ?

The 2ac highfence lease I have in Stx allows me to bag that monster buck opening day and be home by dinner.
