Thought that this was interesting. https://www.americanbassanglers.com/Story.php?Newsid=6060Wonder how many guys will now be keeping two boats in their storage? Or I guess since its a team event one partner has a 250hp and the other has a 150hp.

Hopefully it works out for them. What exactly is their goal though? It would promote owning smaller and less expensive boats for one.

Without saying it, I believe it is more aimed at the guys in Tin rigs.

Who is actually gonna go out to buy a boat specifically to fish that one trail? If you already own one or wanted one with a 150hp or under then this is a bonus but I don't see many running out to buy one specifically for this.
I don't get into this "level" playing field stuff...guess they can also makes rules to exclude 12" depthfinders, tackle over a certain price point etc. Fact is the size boat you have has zero to do with the ability to catch a fish. I see guys in Bass Champs running smaller boats doing just fine and are often in the line to get paid. Just go fishing...fish don't care what boat you are in.
I wish them the best with the new trail and hope its a success though.

I have a 21' with 250 HP, You have a 18' with a 150 HP. We are fishing a tourney on Rayburn, wind blowing 10-15 mph. We both are going to the same spot to fish(or think we are) 8-10 mile run... Would you say the 21' with 250 has a advantage?? Can you fish longer before having to plan your trip back?? Not all the time, but sometimes these things matter. I think its more along the lines of people that cant or don't own a big boat to feel like they can compete.... Some people this matters... Does it really? In my opinion no. I own a brand new 85K Ranger... I have had my butt handed to me by a guy in a skeeter that looked like he bought it at a garage sale. LOL.... The boat itself can not catch fish... we all know that. But a lot of people are intimidated by big expensive boats with all the gear hanging off of them. Period...

And lets not forget how intimidating the flat bill and white costas sitting on the head of the 56 guy with a steely glare are either!! And that 21 footer with a 250 sits attached to a Ford Diesel with a 10 inch lift kit. Compensating is big business and its expensive!

Frank it's not really your flat bill hat nor is it your White Glasses that intimidate me it's when I see you wearing your jersey. something about that dang jersey

I get it. For over 20 years I fished out of what would now be considered small boats with 125 - 150hp. Sometimes its intimidating when your boat #3 but you get blasted by bigger boats passing you, Ive even had guys shoot me the finger as they went by. Granted the fish don't know what kind of boat you are in, but its everything else that's associated with tourney fishing. If I still had my 150hp boat I would be all over this tournament trail. There is a certain comfort factor involved IMO.
