Looking at a trip to Amistad after Christmas but before FLW Costa comes to town. I know fishing information is tight but can anyone speak to the motels around the mall area? Tommy's place is booked and I'm looking for someone with experience at Motel 6 or any of the other in that area.

Try Quality Inn & Suites (830-775-2933) much better than Motel 6. Nothing is too far from the mall area. Guys from the FLW will be in town the week after Xmas. Ramada is always in the area. Most Hotels will be running short of rooms. Short trip 7m to Diablo Ramp.

Try Ruthies (830)774-5377 located at Rough Canyon.

Quality in 100%. This summer I was able to get a suite for like $70 on two or three occasions. From there your looking at like a 20 min drive to Diablo E. The dang AC in my room nearly froze me out, so that was nice after a day in the sun.

Usually stay at the Hampton, great rooms and safe but parking is a PITA.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions. Looking at how close the dates are to the FLW event, I'm going to look at a later trip. If I want to fish in a crowd, I can do that on Lake Welsh or Martin Creek and not drive 9 hours to get there. Bad timing on my part but the information will be useful later in the year.

There is a group of trailer rentals that Tommy is associated with. Be sure to leave your information with him and if at all possible he will be in tough with the other renters around the area and find you a rental for your trip. Also book a motel for a back up; you can always cancel that booking and go with Tommy or his buddies.
