Not necessarily true. Has more to do with distilling and aging.

The Federal Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits state that bourbon made for U.S. consumption[19] must be:

Produced in the United States[20]
Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn[21]
Aged in new, charred oak containers[21]
Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume)[21]
Entered into the barrel for aging at no more than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume)[21]
Bottled (like other whiskeys) at 80 proof or more (40% alcohol by volume)[22]

No freakin' way, but I remember being able to buy the stuff for regular prices just a handful of years ago. I don't know what the story is on the stuff, but for some stupid reason it went from $40-$50 a bottle bourbon to pure unobtanium.

A good bottle of Weller or Maker's is easily just as good, and it'll save you several hundred dollars - assuming you can even find someone willing to sell you a bottle of PVW.

We do too. Ironroot Distillery is located here in Denison and make bourbon. I do not drink, but if I did, I would buy what is made here locally. We have several locals who make beer too.

Jack Daniels is my friend. The best two things born in Tennessee is me and Jack.

Bulleit is my favorite whiskey but I'm not sure of where it is made. Pretty sure it's not foreign but if it is, I'll promise to get Wild Turkey instead for Christmas. I don't want to upset Pilothawk.

No problem....it is distilled in Kentucky. The company is Kirin Distillery...if that has a familiar ring.
