I think one brand people owe it to themselves to drive something different. Because daddy drove one isn't a good reason to drive what you drove. Im not against ford nor am I against GM or ram or Toyota etc. They all made products that in my opinion were not the greatest idea to buy. Many people owned those problem vehicles and still wont look anywhere else but to that one brand, just stupid. Do you think you owe ford something? Im sure they love you, unfortunately they'd just assume wiz down your back and tell you its raining. They aren't your friends they aren't your family buy the best product you can for your needs. I can assure you that answer is not always going to come from the same maker.

I think it's funny people take this post as an opportunity to dawg Ford when this was my first trip to the shop with a 5+ y/o vehicle. It's not the best record for vehicles I've owned but certainly not the worst. I've had good luck with Ford.

For the chicken littles, I also had the brakes replaced and put a new battery in.

What makes you assume that my dad drove a ford and I bought one because of that? loco About the silliest thing you have ever posted...

I have owned the following vehicles: 1 Nissan truck, 1 VW car, 2 Dodges with Cummins, 5 Chevys (4 trucks & 1 Tahoe), 5 Fords (4 trucks & 1 suv), 1 Toyota truck and 3 Mercedes (1 suv & 2 cars), and a Mazda suv. Not sure how much more diverse youd like me to be????

2 biggest piles of junk that I have owned: K2500 with a 5.7L, motor broke a crankshaft upon startup @ 40k miles. No warranty, I ate the motor on a 1.5 year old truck. Next pile of junk, Tahoe with a 5.3, motor locked up, thankfully while still in warranty. No more GMs for me. Ever!

Best truck, is my 2012 F350. 80k miles and hasnt had a single shop time other than oil changes & fuel filters. Its almost scary. Its why I just bought a 2018 F150, hopefully its just as good.

My "daddy" has never in his life owned a Duramax nor a diesel for that matter, but yes, I've been raised on GM. So what? I'm brand loyal, every vehicle I've owned/will own has a bow tie on the front. It's just part of how I was raised and I'm fine with it. GM has always gotten me home safe and never has left me stranded

I know this isn't aimed toward me but it was a joke.... I agree, I don't think you can go wrong with any truck..

Chevy and Toyota are so far behind the curve on innovation and efficiency. It's a shame.

Ram and Ford are by far the best options out there right now if you're looking for the best power and mpg (assuming you're using it as a daily driver for work). If you don't care about mpg, then any of them are fine. I grew up a chevy guy, but currently drive a Ram and won't be buying another Chevy until they come up with something that competes with Ford/Ram's new offerings.

Copying this from another site.

"Heads up to any F150 owners....Ford announced a recall this morning for 2011-13 F150's with the 6sp trans.........built in Dearborn between 4/28/10-10/28/13, and in Kansas City between 5/18/10-11/18/13. Basically, they need to do a software update because there is some glitch that could potentially make it downshift into 1st without warning (that would suuuuuuck).

Presumably since it's just a software update, shouldn't take too long for them to do the work."

I think you can enter your vin here to find out if your Ford is on the list.

This sounds familiar: sudden downshift

Update: Received my refund check from Ford. The transmission fix was at least partially paid for. Got $970 back.
