Going to go watch my niece graduate from Texas State this weekend and will be staying at Canyon Lake. Any help out there on where to put in some crappie fishin'? Not dragging the boat with me so im talking as far as docks, etc. Help would be greatly appreciated seeing how im not familiar with the area. (West Texas boy here)

Crappie dock at Cranes Mill Park just before you enter the park, open at 8am.to sundown. Far north end of 2673 where it actually turns into Cranes Mill Road. the Startzville side of lake ie. south side. Canyon Bait House at 15605 Cranes Mill Road has minnows and is on the way to the dock. Open 8am to 5pm weekdays. It will be very difficult to catch crappie any place except the crappie dock without a boat. Also, not crappie but rainbows available in the river below dam. Where in West Texas?

Hiya wgpj & thanks a bunch for the useful info. That'll save me lots of time. I'm from ole Big Spring, TX but live out at Lake J.B. Thomas about 30 miles northeast of BS. Nice lil lake that had a great comeback few years ago rain wise & stocking from TPWD. Again, thanks for the info. fish
