I have a buddy who often tells me, "If you're asking that question, don't work on it yourself".

Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

Gas furnace will not stay lit if the exhaust flue is clogged - birds' nest comes to mind. Here's an obviously worthless offering: Have you paid last month's gas bill?
Otherwise, call someone qualified after going through the obvious suggestions and trash the obviously worthless offerings.

This could get expensive. Postpone doing anything about it until you have enough cash to cover. This will help ensure debt free life #1, or debt free life part 2.

Turn it to emergency heat until you get it looked at. Should be heat strips in it that kick on in the emergency setting if it is an electric heat pump. At least if it was a Ford diesel you would know what was wrong with it. It would need a total rebuild.

On modern gas furnaces, the flame rod that senses there is really flame and lets it stay running is a top suspect. if it tries to light several times and the burner actually lights but keeps shutting the flame off, that flame rod is likely it. After several trials, it will go into shut down and you have to wait a while or unplug the power cord and plug it back in. With the power off, just clean that little bent rod that sticks out in front of one of the burner tube openings with sandpaper or scotch brite pad and she'll probably fire right up. There are lots of other things that can keep it from heating - air flow switch, hi temp limit, glow bar igniter, and other stuff. If it's old enough to still be using a pilot light it probably time to replace the whole unit. You can learn a lot by pulling off the cover where the burner is visible, putting fan switch on the thermostat into auto and turning the thermostat up to where it should come on.Then watch what happens when it goes through a burner lighting cycle. You'll hear some clicking and see different things happening and that can help narrow down where the problem is.

check the filter, exhaust vent, fuse, and then reset power...if it's still not running, call for help.
