A few years back, I lived in Keene, and fished the Nolan River from the 67 bridge ramp north a ways. The Lake Pat Cleburne water level was pretty low, and when I got up about a mile or so, the water was nasty, shallow, and stinky. I found out there was a cattle ranch, and their effluent was making the water unpleasant. I caught some Largemouth Bass in the river, and a few just south of the bridge, in the lake. I went down to Nolan River Park( there ain't no park, just a sign, and a boat ramp that ended ten feet above the water!) and would have kayak fished there, if the water had been higher. It was a bit spooky there, so far from civilization. Might not want to leave any valuables in your vehicle. Now that Whitney has more water, it might be a great fishing hole. The river, between Rio Vista and Blum supposedly has a few alligators. I never caught any crappie or smallies. Good luck! Island Jim
