I use almost exclusively strawberry. Some vanilla, or a combo of both.

I'm a big fan of spicy flavors - chili powder is my favorite. That said, I haven't found that flavor really makes too much of a difference most times, it's more about location. Now, bait type can make a difference IMO. Lots of guys use exclusively corn but I lean more towards boilies and tigernuts. Some waters you'll find the fish will prefer one type of bait, so if I'm fishing a new water I'll use a bit of everything until I figure them out.

Instead of corn, I almost always use strawberry soaked garbanzo beans. I use a very strong mix of strawberry koolaide, (1/4 to 1/3) of the called for water and a drained can of generic garbanzo beans. Soak them overnight and you have a sweet smelling and cheap bait that stays on the hair rig very well.

I tend to think any standard flavors work, but I'm also starting to understand the "size" & "shape" of the offering on the hair/hook is vitally important, maybe even THE most important thing after location & pre-baiting (if any). I'm just catching fish on too much a variety to feel confident about saying something like "this out fishes that". But there is no doubt...size and shape seem to always make a direct impact on my success. I've caught some very nice fish recently on the smallest single fake corn up to huge 30mm halibut pellets.

Definitely, I've also found that if you're in a bit of a lull in activity changing to a different hookbait can put some fish on the mat for ya
