at Fork they are called Bar-fish or yellow bass. They are everywhere, well at least I think so...they love minnows, and we don't have a
problem catching them. Most we catch are between 6"-10" and their gill plates are like razor blades. But, fun to catch when the day goes slow...
Some bass fisherman say that schools of barfish are where the big bass hang out.... fish

Nice catch, but every jr game warden worth his salt knows you have to check the tooth patch.

Nice catch! I have never seen a yellow bass that big before. Usually the ones I have caught are not much bigger than the slab I was using.

big un's or lil' un's as long as I'm catching someting

I actually think they are some kind of hybrid yellow. But they do grow rather large in Lake Fork. On a side note, can somebody do something about this rain

Whatever they are, they must have been fun catching those. Pull like a mule.

I'm eating crow tonight.

After calling out Gary on those yellow bass (not sand bass as I had incorrectly and foolishly reported), I did a little research. Yep. I was wrong as rain. I never really paid attention to them, but the yellow bass do grow to that size. So what I have called a sand bass may well have been a big yellow bass. Please accept my apology.

The moral here for me. Chose your words wisely for you may have to eat them later.

They kinda remind me of Hybrid bass I have caught on Rayburn in the past....cross between white bass and striper.
