Hi everyone. Looking for opinions on the best catfish rig to fish off the back of the boat while I'm crappie fishing brush piles. I tried dangling a line with side hooks straight down and all it did was get tangled. Any advice would be appreciated. I caught a Flathead the other day on a crappie minnow and now I'm addicted.

I use a carolina rig and I will put a large float on or use a small plastic bottle as a float for my catfish rig in this situation to keep up off the bottom so it does not get hung up and put out a ways from the boat. If I willl be in one place for a while, I may take the float off, put a weight on and let it go down to the bottom. I have a snap swivel which can move freely on the line above the bead and double swivel transitioning from braid to fluro. When using the float, remove weight from snap swivel and hook a line of 2-3 feet off of it and clip onto the double swivel. If there is brush, will most likely put rig close to it. I get a bonus catfish now and then.
