My dad lives out on Cedar Creek lake, and fishes a decent amount. He is decent at casting baitcasting equipment, but gets incredibly frustrated when he tries to skip baits under all of the docks out there. Does anyone use a spinning setup to skip 1/4-3/4oz jigs and/or texas rigs? If so, what size and action of rod would you recommend, as well as what size spinning reel to pair it with? Thanks for the help.

I use a 6-10 m or mh depending on what I'm throwing. Fave spinning reel is the Shimano Stradic 3000

Size 30/3000 reel for jigs and trig up to 3/4oz. Could go up to 35/3500 if you want
For 1/4oz to 3/4oz trig and jigs you’d want MH fast action. 7ft rod is a good spinning rod length

Works well for skipping jigs, T-rig, and shaky head

Have him try a SHORTER casting rod for flipping....

Im pretty darn good at skipping with whatever rod is in my hand, but when I bought one of these https://www.fxcustomrods.com/collec...-fast-casting-rod?variant=12477817487426

I couldnt believe the difference it made. I set it up on the deck now most of the time.
