I have been researching a lot about aluminum boats lately and was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback on a ranger rt188? I know there are a ton of manufacturers out there but the best reviews I’ve seen are for ranger and xpress. Not sure about the after market network for vexus but those look pretty nice. I know they will not run as smooth or as fast as glass boats but the new glass boat prices are just crazy. I’m just a weekend fisherman that enjoys spending time on the water with my kiddos and can’t bring myself to break the bank for a new glass boat.

RP190 is a better choice imo unless you are strictly a bass fisherman. You have the advantage of standing which make rough water way easier on the body. Multi species rig, blood guts, cat fish bait, spilt soda, melted chocolate, etc won't bother this rig because no carpet. Ability to handle saltwater as well. More bang for your buck imo. I was going to get me one, but no tunnel and where I run you need a tunnel.

i've had an RT188 for 3 years. I use it on Fork and private lakes. For me, it's perfect for what i need it for. I only go to big lakes like Fork when the weather is good; if i had to go on a day with 20-25 mph winds, i would certainly stay in a cove and launch near the cove. the wind definitely blows it around more than a fiberglass boat, but i solved that with an Ultrex. I fish a lot of private lakes via Private Waters Fishing, and have had no trouble launching off the bank with my 4wd Ford truck.
been good for me, and way less expensive than a fiberglass. fishes 2 people with no problem, but 3 would be tight. i can run nearly 50 mph in it (with a 115 mercury).

From someone who knows^ I own an Xpress and it has been welded up more times than I can even remember. Last SeaArk was the same way if you use them in big lakes they are going to bust I guarantee it.

Really nice fit and finish and come standard with really nice upgrades compared to what the other manfs rig up with. I know the Vexus are new but does anyone on here own one yet?

If you ever look at a true heavy duty built aluminum hull, you'll laugh at the poor imitations being thrown at you at a dealership.
Add Boatright, lagoon, 5th lake to your look list, You just can't imagine the difference 25 gauge vs 10 gauge welded aluminum makes. My scooter is 30 years old and still good as new, and it gets run hard, bashes oyster reefs, and still forges on.
Unless you're most interested in style over substance, then I can't help you.

Ditto,..my RT 188 runs Fork almost every week, I bring it in when the white caps get up to 20mph,...fuel efficient, easy to wipe down, runs great.

I have a rt 188 so far it has been a great boat. As far as wind it ain’t a basstracker does not spin around and is pretty easy to control. Fished for years with a buddy who had a tracker it was hell in any wind.
First aluminum I have ever owned have no complaints.
