What idiot planned a Christmas Party for Sunday Night?

What idiot plans a company Christmas party? And why do idiots attend?

From when I worked in the corporate world, it seemed as if it was part of the job to show up, and maybe brown nose your self a raise......

If you don't show up at our mgmt Christmas party, you don't get the gift. The gift is typically about $500, but it is an unwritten rule that you don't discuss the attendee's gift if you don't show up. Pretty stupid IMO.....especially for people that live 5 hours away from where they're having it. Only reason I go is to get the gift, and to see a couple of folks. Most of them hate me because they think I'm mean. Wrong, just trying to do the job and I get sick and tired of nonsense.

We play a variation of the dirty Santa game with great gifts, but I think the only one that really understands the rules is the HR lady that puts it on every year. Each gift can be stolen 3 times and if you get stolen from you have to drink a shot of fireball. By the time we get finished there are some very drunk and mad people. Alcohol is awesome.

We never have Christmas Partys� don't think the Boss wants to mess with Planning it!!

This party and this blog are boring.

Both need more of the mysticism if you ask me.

Most places gave the gift out at work or had it delivered to your house like Omaha Steaks. I never got more than a $100 bonus

Place I'm at will have a lunch for all employees and clients in the unheated fabrication shop with folding plastic tables and chairs, staff will get called up to the Operation Officers office the day before Christmas Eve, and he will pretend you are getting layed off ( ha ha ), then give you a bonus check (heavily taxed), for about $750.00 , then chuckle, (more laughs).
No alcohol ever on a job site . (good thing), (very good thing),....

Getting really drunk, hitting on the bosses wife then break dancing on the floor is always a good way to get in line for a promotion

my wife did. Her lab is open 24/7 and sunday evening has the lowest number of employees working, plus she has a budget for the party and sunday is cheaper for locations.

yes I was using my phone last night, and yes there is always alcohol at her company parties.

Our company Christmas parties used to be epic. Not so much anymore. One year a guy crashed the party. No one knew him, but he hung around all night. 3 different venues were closed down before the drinking stopped. 1 female employee hooked up with the party crasher and called in sick the next day. She was fired when she returned to work.

Wife and I pretty much stopped going to company holiday parties a few years back and could not be happier with that choice.

well she runs the lab so she has to be there, also that's where they get their small bonus for the number of years they have worked there, plus if she doesn't go she might no get her bonus.

In a fair assessment, I guess I could come off as being a little mean if you're not doing your job. Do the job to the best of your ability and you will #lovemelongtime.
