Wanting to buy a new Lowrance unit for my boat. Been looking at getting the Hook2 7 split shot. The thing is I want something with maps. I go to Alabama every year and would like to have a good map on my unit. Is the unit with the built in inland charts good or should I get the one with Nav plus charts included? Should I get the cheaper of the 2 and then buy a upgraded map?

You can get the lowrance elite 7 with navionics maps for 499 at bass pro.
Touch screen and side scan.

Navionics maps are 149 for a region.

Thanks for the tip I will have to check that out. I guess my reason for the post is I don't know anything about the map options they offer on these things, never even looked at a map on one. When looking at the options they offer they show one with inland charts and then for $30 more they offer the one with Nav plus charts. I have no clue on either option. I do know that I can buy other map options and I probably will do that later but would just like to know what would be the best base option.

After looking that BassPro deal over I may just have to go with it. Was not really looking to get a sidescan but for that price.....

The Hook2 7 HDI (split shot) unit will provide mapping, sonar and down-scan.
The Hook2 7 TS (triple shot) unit will provide the addition of Side-Scan.
