Everyone knows winter fishing is great. Until the hands get wet and cold. So what is the glove of choice for the winter time? Not just for me. but for everyone that want to brave the cold weather.

Not a brand, but I have had good success using the fold over mittens. Closed for travel open to fish. Two or three pair would be the way to go.

I use the 9 mil Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves 50 Pc X-Large from Harbor Freight with cotton gloves. Put the cotton glove on first and then the 9 mil Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves 50 Pc X-Large. You can feel the suttle of bites still and your hands will stay warm and dry. You will thank me later.

Usually a big part of the problem is that once your hands get cold, you can't get them warm again. Fishing in Minnesota in the fall, I tried a number of solutions over years. I have frostbitten my hands so many times that they now get cold and numb very easily. Solving the problem is easy if you wear heavy enough gloves. Too heavy and you can't operate the reel efficiently. I finally decided on football, wide receiver, running back type gloves. They are coated with a semi sticky surface on the palm side and when hand warmers mentioned above are added, front and back, this helps a lot. Both can be found at Walmart. I also got a rechargeable handwarmer online. Eureka! No more cold hands. This along with the footballmgloves and warmers solved the problem. If your hands do get cold, just hold on to the rechargeable and keep them form getting too bad. If you fish a lot in cold weather, this should be part of your equipment. Fishing can be tough if you are miserable.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I got a pair of insulated neoprene Game Winner (Academy Sports) and then used a razor to put a small slice in the index finger of each glove so I can slip my line in against my finger. Works well but no longer COMPLETELY waterproof but my hands/fingers don't get cold.

Yall dont have much to worry about this winter, Brad Barton the meteorologist, says this will be an El Nino winter. Warmer and wetter than normal I believe. On the other hand I have used the sports gloves with the first knuckle cut off for feel and the hand warmer pouches tucked in... toasty!
