Nice haul. It was slow for us today. Caught fish in three different places but they weren't grouped up and biting very well at any one spot. Caught about 8, with a spotted bass, 2 big bluegill, and a yellow bass. The yellow bass shocked me. Had no idea Palestine had them and I've been fishing it for almost a decade.

Yeah, unfortunately, Palestine has had yellow bass for a long time ..... glad they are not thick like Fork and Richland Chambers, I guess the bass and catfish keep them thinned out. I have also caught several small mouth bass and lots of red eye Kentucky bass. There are also a lot of Grinnel in Palestine!
LOTS, and LOTS of catfish with a 50 fish limit PER MAN ..... gather your friends and help yourself to the slimy suckers!

I can vouch for the yellows. Caught some this spring. Those smallmouth bass are probably spotted bass.

Fished Palestine for over ten years and this is first year I have caught yellow bass. Have caught them most every trip last few months while targeting crappie and hybrids.
Nice reports you have been posting, easttx crappie guy. We have not had much luck for a month now in intermediate depths but have been catching good numbers and quality both deep 20-30' and shallow all the way back in saline.

Smallmouth in Palestine???? Really? Never seen or heard that before! Looks like we should have kept them! I used to fish Palestine every week for years and we caught all kinds fish ..... there are things swimmin around in the water you never see unless you spend a lot of time there. Like a 3' diameter logger head turtle ... I would NEVER, EVER noodle for catfish after seeing that!

I've seen huge snapping turtles and tons of grinnell in Palestine. The smallmouth is a new one to me! Guess I know what my next goal is now!
