Winter time I'm usually fishing deep water, (25-38 ft). So I'm using 3/16 - 1/4 oz jig heads with plastic bodies, usually 2 1/2 - 3". If it's hand ties, definitely 1/8-3/16 and a 3/8 - 1/2 oz sinker about 1 ft above the jig. Trying to get 1/32oz jigs to pull line down when it's 40 degrees and water temp is 48 is almost impossible for me.

keep this in mind, some baitfish turn lighter colors and a pinkish white color in colder water, minnows, shad ect. why I dont know, but you may want to try tieing with colors like pink/white/shrimp/ grey dun/ lavender/ saffron, ect.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
