I’ve read where some of you are taping your cast nets. I’ve been looking for something to use off a pontoon that will sink fast and noticed some companies sell nets already taped. Do these work as well as the nets y’all are taping yourselves?
Thinking I need a 5’ 1 1/2 lb. per ft. net. Open to suggestions please, tired of only having chicken thighs soaked in dead red to fish with.

I have a brand new 7’ high quality taped net still NIB at home that I’m willing to make a good deal on. It’s got the 1 1/2 oz per foot weights on it too. Don’t remember the brand, but it’s top of the line. If you can hold off for a few days, I can get pics up.

I’ll get home this evening and find it, price it and post it properly for sale since y’all are interested. Got a big landing net too, also new.
Thanks.

Cast, did you mean 1 1/2 lb. per radial foot? Honestly don’t think I can throw a 7 foot net from my pontoon. I’d be interested in a large net though. Looking for a 5 foot net, possibly 6 foot max. Thanks for checking.

Yeah looks like 1.5 lb/foot. I’ll clear it up when I see it later at home.

They dont sink fast...you can tape your own we use gorilla duct tape..been on our 8frt lead weight net for 3 years going on 4...it works well in deep water
If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....

I have a purchased taped net and a net I taped myself, both work fine. If you choose to get a net and then tape it yourself, you will probably want to add more hand line as well so that you have enough to reach down deeper.

About taping nets. Do you tape over the brail lines or under them (keeping them freed-up)? Or, does it really matter?

Don’t tape over the braille lines. You want them to be free so they can close the bottom of the net.
