Do you think the people who wear those mask and gloves while fishing will look at a picture of themselves 15 years from now and ask themselves “what was I thinking?” You know, kinda like when you see an old picture of yourself in a pair of jean shorts overalls with one shoulder strap hanging free.

You talking about the sun screen gloves and head cover? Of the crazy winter ones? After getting several skin issues removed I wear the mask and sun protective gloves now.. trying to help my skin.. lol

Probably wonder how we ever survived and caught fish from a 21’ boat with “only” a 250. And 7’6” rods and no titanium hooks with tungsten chatterbaits.

Seth Fieder limited edition Humminbird 20” DoubleHelix X5 graphs will be a great deal used on the fishing forum for sale forums. And Ultrex 60v lithium trolling motors will be getting sold for the 120v 200lb thrust models with twin props.

I’m talking the summer mask and gloves. I see guys on Facebook who fish without an ounce of skin showing, then they’ll be at the beach with their family in nothing but a pair of shorts and flip flops . I think very few people who fish like this are actually thinking about the harmful effects of the sun, but instead are thinking about how cool the pros look in it. I’m not going to lie I bought a few mask myself, but I just cant do it. I’ll stick to good ol sun screen and a hat.

I definitely don’t put on sungear to look cool. Sunblock is a pain in the arse and skin cancer is very real.

You do realize that most people who bass fish tend to spend like 8 hours under the direct sunlight, and it also reflects off the water. I would venture that even when people go to the beach, its not for 8 hours straight with no cover. The covering up is for cancer prevention... maybe you are too young to know, but pretty soon you will find this out.

This^^^

Sunblock wears off, and is messy, plus makes the heat worse. Long sleeve 50spf with gloves and wide hat and a buff give the same protection if not better. I don’t care how it looks if it helps protect from skin cancer. The reflection off the water can leave brutal sunburns, and that can happen on a cloudy day too.

I think or at least hope that there is way less skin cancer in 15 years. I’m 41 and need to have some spots on my face checked, I’m also one of the hard headed ones that don’t wear mask or sunscreen. I’d like to try to wear the mask, but man I sweat profusely with it on.

So I think in 15 years people will be smart enough to wear it and they’ll think those of us that didn’t are idiots.

Trust me I’m fully aware as to why people wear them. I protect myself too and my kids from the sun. And I wasn’t trying to offend anybody, but when you go to a working man tourney that starts at 5:30 pm and you have guys wrapped up form head to toe it does look a little odd. I guess for me I refuse to wear long pants in the summer especially when I fish, so it would seem pretty silly for me to buy a pair of sun screen gloves when my legs are exposed. To each its own, but I still think it’s a fad. Happy fishing

Skin cancer is not a fad. roflmao

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I somewhat understand the guys that poke fun of people with full sponsored out jerseys and no sponsors, but thinking people use sun protection because they want to look "pro" hmmm

One of the nice things about getting old is whether it's this, jerseys or anything else I really don't give a rat's arse what anyone else thinks and wear or do what I want!

You may not realize, but those 3 hour working man tourneys is 3 hrs of sun exposure. The next week that is 3 more hours. The exposure does not go away like a suntan or burn, it compounds over your lifetime. My dad has had melanoma and carcinoma. It is from all the fishing time in the sun I'm sure. He's had half his ear removed, limp nodes removed, radiation peels, and just this last Tuesday had half his colon, some of his small intestine, appendix removed because of tumors and a colostomy bag put in. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. I'm thankful he was here. A hope he's here for Christmas, the New Year, etc. But only God knows. I don't think it's a fad.

A better question is what are we laughing at that bass fisherman were wearing 15 years ago? I could really care less how they looked mainly cause it was 15 years ago and irrelevant.
