Ok......This is a first for me. I need to install a kill switch on a 1996 Champion, 200 Evinrude motor. Which wire that goes to the switch is used for the kill switch? Red, main power or run wire (not sure what color it might be)? confused

And yes it appears it never had one..

Thanks in advance

Joe

Are you SURE there isn't one on the motor control? It's kinda sneaky and out of the way.

Should be built into the ignition switch. Sounds like someone changed it.

My 97 Evinrude has a clip that slips over the key; when the lanyard was pulled it would turn the key to off. Not actually wired into the switch. I was never able to get it to work properly. I have since replaced the ignition switch with an aftermarket that didn't have the feature.

Put the plug in.

Before you do make sure there isnt a red toggle switch looking thing around the control box. Its not obvious.
