After the brutal winds and cold temperatures that kept us off the Lake on Monday-Wednesday, the fishing was actually pretty good on Thursday and Friday. Then it turned to excellent on Saturday. Guess the high pressure, bluebird skies and calm winds caused them to be a little less aggressive after the cold front. We were booked everyday this past week with Veterans and their Friends as we offered some Special Trips to Special Folks! We started a couple of trips later in the AM and actually did a couple of Afternoon Trips to avoid the early morning temperatures. By weeks end it was almost Spring Like as we fished in 70 degree weather on Saturday. All our fish came from the timber along the Richland Creek Arm of the Lake and specifically in the Crab Creek area. We caught fish from 20'-32' FOW. Danny Kings Punch Bait on a # 4 Treble Hook caught every fish. We ended every trip with a nice box of fish and on a couple of outings had our limits. Several slot fish were caught & released and everyone went home with some nice Blue and Channel Cat Filets for their Fish Fry. Adam and I fished Monday & Tuesday and now off for a few days of Thanksgiving! Max & Martha from Brenham celebrated their 62 Wedding Anniversary by fishing with me on Monday Afternoon and Adam on Tuesday Morning. In addition to a box full of Eaters both trips, Martha caught two Blues just under the Slot on Tuesday Morning! Not bad for an 85 year young Lady! The Grandkids of the Roberts from Houston (5 & 7 year old Klein and Clayton) put a Whoopin' on them on Tuesday Morning in my boat!
