Pella ran a deal at the end of the summer. We had to book it before the end of August and they installed in October (because their installers were booked up). It was 15% off and zero interest for 12 months. We will do the first story Windows next year. They said they run the deal usually every summer but at least once a year. They look great.

They are beh8nd curtains, I dont care how they look. I just want the cold air to stop coming into my house.

Caulk around the windows inside and out. Obvious but surprisingly effective. Level 2 on a 1-10 difficulty scale.

This, and also do the trim and window seat, both next to the window and underneath the seat

I did windows first and am now doing doors. Appliances got in the way but she likes them so I cannot complain. Windows make a slight difference but that is just how our house is laid out. Most of ours are on the SE side of the house. These two french doors are leaking bad on the north side of the house though.

say an average size of 32" wide by 60" tall either, aluminum frame or vinyl averages about $ 150.00-185.00 per window and installation varies depending on the exterior whether brick, wood siding, metal ect ground floor or second story but it also averages between $ 150.00- $200.00 per window. Also don't let them stick it to you on custom size bull, vinyl or aluminum custom size charge is usually about $15.00 per window and some brands have no extra charge. These prices ranges are for good quality vinyl or aluminum windows, if you start talking about wood casement windows or vinyl clad wood or even aluminum with a thermal break the cost per window jumps dramatically

I am in the glass and mirror business and this is some good info.
One thing a lot of people don't think of is the screens. One thing that has made a huge difference in my old house built in 1951 is that I put on Solar Screens. Did it mainly for the help with the summer heat but also found out it does remarkably well for cutting down on the cold getting to the windows in the winter.

Been hitting some windows with this. It does seem to make a huge difference, it can be very frustrating to install, but I have to say..legit.
