Are all commercial turkeys pretty much the same ? Butterball etc...
Is a hen better than a tom or will that even matter with the birds they produce today.
Just looking for some insight before the purchase.
Thanks y'all .

Store bought turkeys are all about the same. Smoke turkey and other fancy types are a bit different, more chemicals added.

Now days more turkeys get butchered by size so male/female makes little difference.

Turkeys from the wild or homestead is a different bird.

Good turkey has to do with the way it cooked.

If you spring for a fresh never frozen turkey it makes quite a bit of difference in taste and texture.
