Trout are high protein food for bass.

Being that these trout are released into public park ponds / lakes, the fish are gone within a few weeks if that long. I've seen people lined up nearly shoulder to shoulder, especially when someone catches one.

Any of you guys have any advice or tips for a rookie trout chaser? I've caught some before randomly, but never targeted any. Gonna change that this winter. I plan on using spinning tackle, as i have no experience with fly fishing, and I plan on hitting the Brazos, Guadalupe, and various community lake stocking locations. Other than an ultralight spinning rod & reel, & a few panther martin, & assorted other makers, rooster tail type lures that I already have, not sure what else i should grab for the tackle box to help me catch some fish for the fridge. Any pointers are welcome and appreciated.

You covered the most popular lures but I will add canned corn and pink salmon eggs on a small hook. If no one else is around throw a bit of corn into the water and then cast into that spot. Alot like carp fishing as well.

Bad advice on throwing corn in the water, against the law, hefty fine!
