I’ve managed to break the plastic clip that holds the lanyard on TWO MotorGuide Xi5 remotes (I’m rough on stuff, but that’s a weak piece of plastic!). Does anyone know whether MG or someone else will sell me just the back part (see pic)? Trolinmgmotorparts.com sells only has the front-back kit, for $15. I just hate to waste money when I only need half.

I did the same thing to mine. Ended up drilling a hole and putting a key ring through it. It got me out of a jam but the problem is it is no longer waterproof at that point. Ended up having to buy a whole new remote. $15 sounds like a good deal to me. That XI5 remote is a horrible piece of [censored]. Doesn't take much to break it. Motorguide needs to go buy an Ipilot remote and copy it.

Thanks, TTG. Yes, it’s a design flaw I think. Probably just have to spend the $30.

Btw - I have it wrapped at bottom with electrical tape. Lanyard attached to that. It works as a stop-gap.

I broke my first remote the same way. Did like Scotts did and drilled a hole through it. It quit working shortly there after and MG replaced it under warranty. Now I probably jinxed myself and I'll end up breaking this one too.
