Quick question, fellas: Any of you anchor a chum right below the boat like they do on Wicked Tuna? A Company sent me a bunch of chum products to test out, and I'm thinking of anchoring up where I know fish are holding then set up a chum slick, then drop about six line straight down under the boat. Any of you ever done anything like that? Check out this guy doing this for halibut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5tI68gayT4

Went with a guy on Squaw Creek - tied up to Deep Water timber and dropped 2 scoops of soured milo and you could see the Channel cats move in on Sonar. He used slabs dipped in Punch bait.

Shucks, did that last weekend. I prefer to park off to the side of the chum and cast into it. Oh, we managed about 20 channels from a heavily pressed local lake. Now, I do have to try the dead red and some menheden oil that I have laying around.

Good ideas, fellas. Wonder if I could set up a chum bag on an anchored jug line?

Depends on how much you paid for the chum bag/sack and if you really need to get it back. A wad of soaked rags, tied to a rock, could work. Really depends on what your chum is made of. I suppose a sock with a rock in the end, a couple of scoops of chum inside, and a twist-tie would give off a slick for hours. Tie some trotline cord to it and even use it bank fishing. Though if I'm coming up with it, there's got to be a fatal flaw. Probably scare more off than it attracts.

I catch so many bream that I'm thinking of grinding or cutting up the ones I don't eat, or at least keep the heads and guts and make chum with it out of wheat brand--I get wheat brand for bedding for my meal worms. Aquatic Nutrition sent me a bunch of chum products, one of which I have used in my cheese bait.
I figure why not try chumming just like the guys do in deep sea fishing?

When fishing for blues. I like to put my trolling motor on anchor, then scale some live brem, filet them, throw scales and small pieces of the cut up bait in also. I like to throw a little bit of chum at one time so as to not over feed them. Works for me!

Thx, Twist! I still have a little cheese left from a bucket I bought a few years back. 10-4, the blocks are alot harder than the cheese you can get for dip bait. These are compressed and dried out.

When hitting is slow, I grind fresh shad, mix them with oats, rice or bread and put in the spring feeder with hooks (like for carping). It works great for blues and channels.
P.S. Sometimes, I add TetraMin, flakes for aquarium fish, that has strong smell.

Is TetraMin like medicine for the fish or something?

Ok this could just be me but if I fish when I first drop chum I usually catch many smaller fish. So now I go carry my chum out the day before I fish and chum to return the next day to fish. Seems to help the size average of the fish. The negative to this is burning twice the gas but fuel prices have come down some.
