I will be upgrading my fish finder from helix 9 si gn1, i am wanting an helix 12 si mega. My question is this - is it worth the extra money for the gn3 versus the gn2 ?

The Gen 3 mega + will give you coverage out to 200' on si and 200' down on di with the mega frequencies instead of 125 with the current models. The Gen 3 will give you more of a selection of transducers to choose from. The entire gen3 line will be compatible with the new low q dual spectrum transducers. These transducer will provide better 2d sonar readings. The new low q transducers are made for chirp.

The G2N and G3N are the same MSRP. You may find the G2N on close out sale though.

The extra power and longer transducer of the G3N produces sharper images:

Yes if the display is the same size. You do not select the transducer to share, you select the unit as the source.
