Have a buddy whose Mercruiser lower unit froze and split in front of the prop years ago. It wasn't pretty.
Enough of this idle chit-chat. This ain't no retirement home. EVERYONE! Get back to your oars. The Captain wants to waterski.

Nonsense! Time to get a real motor, fellas! Get something that will plow through mud, sludge, sand grit, won't need water cooling, nor will care about the temperature. 29 deg F. to put you motor down? That's a totally worthless motor! The cool air will keep it cooled off! Come on, fellas. Yawl, got more grit than that!

I recall back in the 1960s my Uncle was working at Varo. He decided to make a trolling motor from a starter. He sealed it up. Probably the most powerful & fastest trolling motor (at least back then). But it did suck down the juice on a battery (or 2 or 3 ...). My Dad had a 3.5 HP Sears & my Uncle would pass us up on the creeks and sleughs.

My 4 stroke Yamaha doesnt get put up for the winter either. However, I like the lower unit crack free!

I wanna go more than 4mph in my pontoon. No problem they run dump truck engines with these things in Thailand. Even a Jet Ski engines works well. Speed is not a problem with these things.
