I've noticed that the video emdeded doesn't show in forums anymore. Is that something on my end?

I have seen videos in other parts of the forum. A lot of people have been posting them in the video section as well. If a video promotes a certain forum it is allowed to stay. That is the way I see it. To get a 100 percent right answer to your question I would PM any of the moderators and get their reply!

Testing... Use the 6th button from the left and choose the appropriate service (YouTube, Vimeo) and then paste the link to the video there. I've never had any issues! Edit: Seems there's an issue! Shows in the preview but not in the post... Odd!
