We just finished the worst fishing trip to Fairfield ever. Me and my father-in-law boated 6 fish in 3 days. I dont know if theyre in shock because the power plant shut down or if the cold front last Wednesday affected them that much. There were several boats out there casting nets all day every day. Time to find a new fall lake I guess...

The only thing that is going to save Fairfield is a complete ban on cast-netting.

There will be no netting after this winter. The Tilapia will die and the Latin Angler Association will disband that lakes crew of anglers.

That brings up a thought. Does TPWD stock tilapia in Fairfield? Every year after Winter, the tilapia are there. Or do just enough survive the cold weather to keep them going?

Rayzor the water has never got cold enough for them to die. But this winter will be the end of the tilipa in Fairfield.

reason the tilapia thrived was due to the power plant. no power plant, no tilapia

It still looked to be a little low. Surprising with all the flooding in the area.

Tilapia thrive in hot water lakes which Fairfield no longer is. TPWD does not even allow you let them live if you catch them on Squaw. Literally a handout given to you at gate instructing you to kill all Tilapia. No stocking needed. Very prolific. Netting not making a dent in population. For Fairfield they will freeze over time and netters will disappear. As far as impact on bass from netting? Netters have been there a long time before this discussion. Not saying its OK, just sayn.
