Hadnt been in since Bps bought them out. Wow was I shocked. Looked like ghost town. Has a lot less product now than it used to have. Looked like they took out a lot shelves. Theres tons of room everywhere that used to have product. Almost no Cabelas brand items. Basically its a BPS with almost the exact same stuff. The Bargain Cave is even gone. Sad day.

One of the employees told me they had to make room for more boats
The Cabelas Guidewear sun protection gloves and face mask were my favorites, but not available (even online) anymore

The Ft. Worth location has had some smoking deals as of late. Found some good stuff there marked way down. I live near it and the parking lot seems busy most days.

About two months before the ownership transfer was official, the store location near me had really good deals on all the Guidewear items. Purchased a few items, but didn't take advantage of the sale like I should have. I underestimated how quickly some of the Cabela's brand options would completely disappear from the online store.

Wife and I went to the one in Allen a week or 2 ago, and left after 15 mins in there. You are right, they had nothing! Wasn't even fun to walk around and just "shop!"

I buy all my tackle online, only when in a pinch I will go to BPS or Cabelas. They're beginning to almost mirror the Walmart fishing department.

I was in Cabellas in Allen last night. It has many times what walmart has. for example, they had more rows of plastic worms than all the fishing supplies at walmart. They have as much space dedicated to hook as half the whole walmart fishing department.
They do not always have what I want, but when I look at the variety of what they do have, it is impressive. I might be looking for a small Rapalla topwater in certain sytle when they only have a larger size but many other Rapalla lures I am not even interested in.
They are trying to satisfy lots of different fishing needs so they may not have as many items as you would like for a specific need but comparing to walmart is totally inaccurate.
Cabellas Allen not only moved the fly fishing area but I believe they did cut back on the variety of tying materials they were offering.
About 2 weeks ago the bargain cave still existed. Last night it was curtained off. Thinking this might have to do with preparing for black friday or Christmas. I know a good portion of the boat section was closed so they could do something with it for Christmas.

Can only speak for the ftw. store, but yes a noticeable disappointment. It was a given, BPS is and has been a joke for along time.

I went to the Cabelas Allen last weekend and was totally infuriated. There wasn't even a manager to complain to. I can't believe they don't carry 17/32oz rainbow colored jigheads in a size 4.5 sickle hook. EVERYONE knows they are the PERFECT size for crappie.

Went there yesterday to the fw store. Its almost like going into walmart now, seriously its bad. I Def won't be back if I don't have to. I also was also in search of the sun guidewear gloves. Not one person in apparel even knew what gloves I was talking about, no joke. Of course they didn't have them. I finally found some nice guide wear winter fishing gloves that the person I asked told me they had no more guide wear gloves at all. I was trying to spend my $100 gift card there without buying tackle and took me two hours to find the stuff and had to end up buying overpriced tackle to get to the $100 mark. They have tons of bass pro brand stuff everywhere. GOOD thing though I found my c rig barrel weights without going to bass pro(also horrible now)! I wanted something for my girlfriend but found nothing to match her style really. They do have lots of guide wear there though, and the new guide wear. Lots of bass pro rain gear as well. TONS of clueless employees(no offense to them working). Manager was running back and forth from registers to customer service shaking his head most of the time with lots of confusing pricing online vs signs in store with lower pricing. Crazy only one or two people can do anything. Tons of money down the drain imo with the improvements and that property... I watched the service bays for about 5 minutes... Do they really sale and service any boats?? Wow what an amazing store nowhere close to its potential. The big game rooms and all the wildlife etc..

Johnny loves China...therefore the rest of the story. Should clarify - Johnny loves knocking stuff off in China - Guidewear if it is made in China was never a knock off...it was far better than 100mph stuff - I've had both. Thats why its gone...sucks because our selection for the good stuff just got cut in half pretty much. Look for upscale brands like Patagonia to go away if they even have it. Fly fishing Dept will also suffer big time I would think.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I was fearful that BPS would install their junk in Cabella's. Cabaella's has always had better clothing than BPS in my opinion.

Speaking for the store. I work in the fishing department and can say that we are doing everything we can to finish stocking and rearranging everything. Yes unfortunately some things are gone but other stuff is coming in. We have been told that Cabelas products are NOT going away. Just trying to figure out what is selling where and as of now it is still TBD on what we will carry. Bargain Cave is closed for good but each individual department will have its own clearance section throughout the department. Ours (fishing) and marines will be combined right outside where the bargain cave used to be. We have some rods and a couple reels right now and lots of marine products. Please bare with us, as we are doing our best. Any questions feel free to PM.

I have to agree. Cabelas has went down hill big time. As a black card holder, between mid August & this time of year, I'd have received a dozen 10-20+% coupons by now. Since BPS---ZERO---NOTHING. I'm wanting a Humminbird 5 port hub. Both Cabelas & BPS are $5 over MSRP. I'll save my points and buy somewhere else.

I cant remeber the last time I bought tackle inside a cabelas or BPS. Who cares if they suck, been overpriced for 10 years. Save your money and gas and just order online through TW or go to your local acadmey. Even the revamped Gamder MTNs are 100% better than BPS/Cabelas

Unfortunately thats a corporate decision and not a store. We dont get to pick what we sell and for what price. Were also going through big price changes right now. Some stuff going up but a lot going down. If youre a big strike king or berkely guy than youll be happy with all our new stuff. Sorry if it upsets you, just trying to keep an update.

I see all the big name brands in tackle there. Tons of stuff. Lots of harder to find stuff. In addition to Berkley and SK they have Megabass, 6th Sense, Lucky Craft, Jackal Xcite, Roboworm, Reaction innovations. Spro etc. Their rod selection is huge. Tons of Simms and Costa, Oakley. Sunline. No complaints here.

Before BPS bought Cabelas, I was told Cabelas ordering came from corporate. Store level had no input on what inventory they got.

For hunting all of my reloading, and hunting equipments comes from either Midway USA or Cabelas. At least they have a good supply in those departments at Cabelas if I run out and cant wait. Tackle Warehouse wins out when fishing equipment need to be bought. They can give a veteran 10% and then add 20% more on the holidays. Thats hard to beat

The Cabelas Guidewear sun protection gloves and face mask were my favorites, but not available (even online) anymore
Not sure where you got that info. New holiday catalog came this past week and Guideware suits are prominently displayed and still available. New colors too.

The Cabelas Guidewear sun protection gloves and face mask were my favorites, but not available (even online) anymore
Not sure where you got that info. New holiday catalog came this past week and Guideware suits are prominently displayed and still available. New colors too. Thats good to hear...I was like seriously! Guideware is great stuff and glad to see they did not cut this. I guess I should do a little on line research before I believe a brand like that was cut...its too good.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I have to agree. Cabelas has went down hill big time. As a black card holder, between mid August & this time of year, I'd have received a dozen 10-20+% coupons by now. Since BPS---ZERO---NOTHING. Yep noticed this also, used to get the 'employee discount' coupon about once or twice a year also. Haven't had one of those in a long while.

We even lost the Black Card Visa. Capitol 1 Master Card now. I have yet to receive this CC yet. I quit using the visa black card a while ago because not sure when it will be shut off and second figured I am going to lose any points acquired.

You guys act like an entire isleway of bill fish teasers and giant marlin trolling squids is not what the consumer wants in a North Ft Worth Texas sporting goods store? Both work well on Squaw Creek.

I will never understand why they charge such high retail prices, when they have so much buying power. I'm sure they get deep cuts from the mfg., they could certainly pass that on to their customers. GREED!

The only thing Cabelas has left over BPS is that they take more than 5 gift cards online, and Guidewear. When that changes, it will not be relevant to me anymore

I went to the Fort Worth store several months back and loved the selection. I actually thought it was better than bass pro. Got a Cabela's brand crappie rod for cheap and really love the rod. Sounds like it has went downhill fast since then.
