I've been wanting to catch that monster alligator gar from a kayak for the last four to five years but to this day, it just hasn't happened. Anyway, on this trip I launched from the Outback Marina off of FM356 not far out of Trinity, Texas. Recent rains had the river up and running so the mile long paddle against the current to get to the fishing spot had me winded! I didn't realize what a heavy breather I am or how much I sounded like a hick till I started this video thing!

Looks like a fun day, thanks for the video.
What do you use for bait and hooks to catch gar? A big chunk of cut carp on a 2/0-3/0 bronze treble.
