 Caught my first largemouth!

Since retiring last year, we moved out of Dallas and settled here on Cedar Creek.
I usually leave a rod or two in a holder hanging off the boat baited with a chicken gizzard for catfish, and a boilley for carp.
In a year and a half, I've only seen one bass hit the surface 100 yards away down the channel.
Folks come in all the time bass chasing, and nobody has ever caught one in the channel or around our dock.
(I don't like all that casting and reeling, so I don't even try for them.)
But the other day:
I caught a 3 & 3/4 pound largemouth that sucked a chicken gizzard down about 1/2 way towards it's ahhh,, 'exhaust port'.
I wanted to release it, but with a heavy treble hook that far down, I didn't think it would survive, so I cleaned it.

nice! might keep 1 rod with a soft plastic rigged up so that you can fan cast while waiting on the other rods!

what color was the gizzard? They start out a light red, 'meat' color, then turn sort of a gray after awhile. The catfish seem to prefer them fresh, but the turtles don't really care.

I have caught bass on cheap Walmart blood bait in the little bags and on dead shrimp just sitting still while fishing for catfish .... if they are hungry, they will eat just about anything!

The largest bass I have caught was on a piece of cut carp.
