As I've grown older and hopefully wiser, the hardest thing is seeing your parents grow old. As a young man, I lived in the desert southwest of Texas (El Paso), and access to rivers and creeks was pretty dismal. The closest lake was in Truth or Consequences, NM, Elephant Butte Lake. I often begged my dad to taking me fishing as a boy, and I'm glad that I he always obliged my requests. He also enjoyed the sport, but often hired guides to make certain that we caught fish on our excursions. He taught me what he knew about fishing and I learned how to value the outdoors and the experience. As a grown man, I've tried to share those experiences with my kids, although at their ages right not, they don't seem all to interested, but I hope that as they grow a little older they will appreciate my efforts. Bottom line, if there is the opportunity, never miss a moment to fish with your dad or whatever figure is important in your life. My father is still around these days and I'm still lucky enough to be able to go fishing with him when I travel back home. Attached is a picture of my dad and our good friend Frank Vilorio. A great fishing guide on Elephant Butte Lake.

Making memories. I have lots of great memories fishing the East Texas lakes with my dad. Wish he was still here so we could go one more time.

Been 18 years since my dad passed. Don't know what kind of 'Deal" I would be willing to make to fish with him one more time. People talk to your parents or grandparents you will be amazed at what you will learn that is way more valuable than that electronic device in your hands.
Off my soapbox now
May the Good Lord bless you with a bend in your rod.

Off my soapbox now
This is a great topic to get on a soapbox for. I would give anything to go back in time and correct the many, many times I hurt my parents. I wish I could have spent more quality time with my Grandfathers. We never know what we have until they are gone.
