@ Tex-A-Jun

I've been catching them in 4 fow where creek channel enters the lake and you should do good....

Caught and released another 25 pounder this morning plus a few other teens...I picked up my trotline and going to try and catch em on rod and reel this week now that I have established a pattern. I've caught lots of 20-30 pounders in all the years I've jugglined/trotlined but never caught any on rod and reel...hoping to change that this week!

Well hopefully you can snag a few with the rod and reel. If I'm lucky I'll get to put a few trot lines out this weekend but honey do's may get in my way. Let us know how it goes!

Cool video on your boat. Did you do the aluminum work or have it done.?

I recorded running the trotline on my gopro but just didn't turn out great with camera angles and water was on the lens once one of the big fish splashed me with its tail lol! I plan to rig up a piece of pvc that overhangs the front of my boat so I can clip the gopro onto the pvc about 5 plus feet infront of the nose of the boat aiming back at me and the water : ) It's going to be pretty cool!

@BigPoppa- My dad and myself did all the work on the boat. I'm lucky to have one talented dad with all the shop and toys a guy could need! He had the tools, know-how, and space & I had the ideas/design of exactly what I wanted and together we worked on it. I never want to do it again!! That was the longest 3 months between juggling work, kids, family, and boat : ( I got pretty dang good at welding aluminum though haha

Fishing report 10/23: Went fishing with some drifiting jugs and rod and reels and had zero luck on rods but caught some blues up to 12 pounds on drifting jugs. They were in less than 6 fow and they were all within a foot or two of the surface! They did not bite the lower hook on my jug which was 3-4 feet below the surface with live shad! The top hook had cut shad and all of them took the cut shad. I don't get it!! Turned down live healthy shad for a fresh cut shad.

They could be scavenging rather than predating Clay...They can smell the enzymes and stank coming off a chopped piece a little better too. Even when predating they will often prefer an injured or chopped meal over a lively healthy bait. Thats why fishing under feeding sandbass can be so productive certain times of year. Give a bluecat a choice between a big ol lively Shad and one that has been scalled/filleted down one side or chopped, with the nasty juice dripping out, and I bet u the cat would take the chopped juicy bait 9 times outta 10...just my 2cents worth about a penny! texas

Maybe thats all it is... more sent in the water and easier prey.

One of my fishing buddies has friends that fished tawakoni recently and caught several big blues. They got to talking and all their blues even up to 60 pounds came from the top hook of their juglines with was within a foot or two of the surface in less than 10 fow!! Maybe Ive just been fishing too deep and got lucky by suspending my trotline and doing well and then happened to bait the top hook of my jugs which I normally dont do in that shallow of water! Im going to start using balloons on my rods and suspend the bait a foot below it and see what happens next week!
