I’m on vacation next week and have been wanting to hit a DFW area lake other than Joe Pool and thought I might try Lavon, but I’m open to other suggestions. Mainly my criteria is to have a nice boat ramp where I can launch solo and feel safe where my tow vehicle is parked. Rental cabins are a plus

Good boat ramps are hard to come by at Lavon. Best one I know of is over by the power plant. Mallard Park has a decent ramp but no courtesy dock.

Hi Casey I like Little ridge[by power plant] w/ courtesy dock, lavnia south pretty good too, both are free. That said east fork has 2 ramps, the one in cove by boat slips is a pain to drive to cause road has lots of potholes, they charge $5. tolaunch, has camp/ rv spots too. Then you got collin park 2 good ramps, iyou like to give em 11.$ i think, maybe discount for senior. thse are on southern end of lake.btw give me a shout, we'll sling some slabs. Good luck.

Unfortunately there are no rental cabins on Lake Lavon that I know of. As far as ramps, I fish alone a lot and like using the Eastfork ramp in the cove, parking is safe and blocks a southerly wind. I know the road is not the best just have to drive slow and dodge the pot holes.

Yes, Mallard has a C-Dock and nice ramp. Great fishing area as well. Never had one issue with tow vehicle.

Most of the ramps on Lavon are pretty good. I usually go to tickey creek.
