I have never done one of these but always appreciate when people do them, so I thought I would try my hand at one. This past weekend me and 4 friends decided to do an overnight trip to goat island on Caddo Lake. We arrived saturday morning at the WMA launch on CR 805 and loaded up the canoes and kayak. The lake is thick with duck weed but luckily the giant sylvinia had not taken over much of the area. After a short paddle we found the camp sites on goat island and proceeded to setup camp. After a quick lunch we hit the water for some fishing.

The lake seemed low and in most cases we were in less that 2ft of water. We threw topwater frogs and the bass were killing it! It seemed almost every other throw was getting us a hit. Most of the bass weighed in the average of 1 to 2lbs and put up a fun fight. Rain came in sat night around 5ish for us so we went back to camp after 4 hours of fishing to settle in for the night. After a wet night we woke up and started fishing again. Sunday brought slower bites but they were hitting hard on buzz baits. We ended getting off the water and back to the trucks by noon.

All in all a great weekend and we are already planning a longer second trip.
