I will be fishing from a floating cabin near the JFK Causeway and don't know quite what to expect as for as fish species that will be in the water during this season. With the front that just came through what shall we expect and what bait should I have in my tackle box? Love that Corpus fishing. I will be fishing the last weekend in this month.

I have been focusing on the edges packery channel working the reds, look for the bait find the fish. Redfish magic and popping cork live shrimp has been working great for me.

Thanks we will be on a floating cabin and the cabin is anchored beside a channel. The channel will be lit up at night and we are hoping the light will bring in the bait fish. Will definitely pick up some of the recommended bait. Thanks.

The cabin is just north off of South Padre Island drive near JFK Causeway near the Red Dot bait house and fishing pier. It is on the NASA landing strip which is over a hundred ft. wide.

"look for the bait find the fish"
glad to see this come full circle
It's only part of the equation, and a small part, but a good part of the equation.
Back to the OP.. October can be a great month and usually the weaker fronts have little effect. Tide has been way up and there should be a lot of bait in the water. Hunt structure whether that is edges or potholes, drop offs, depressions in the flats and on high tides hunt the farthest up into the marsh grass as you can go.
