Always remember; the lakes that you have to pay to fish on are not there for fishermen.

Probably required release for downstream already negotiated before the year

Provide fresh clear water for those A-hole rich landowners. Same ones who had the grass removed.

Plenty of rain down south this year. I'm think they're releasing toward the new Arbuckle reservoir in Wharton county. It was on the local news a few weeks ago and they mentioned it was ready to start taking water. Arbuckle Reservoir

Today Travis is sitting at 666.60, and it's raining real well here in the Hill Country. The lake is up 11 feet in the past month. I live on Travis and the boat ramp is usable again. So I ain't complaining. Just sayin'...

The Llano River at Llano is again at flood stage today. That slug of floodwater will be passed thru LBJ and Marble Falls into Travis. How much more Travis will rise is TBD.

LCRA is obligated to give x amount of water per year to the rice farmers further down the Colorado river. I am just curious. Did those rice farmers pay for Lake Travis to be built? Did the lake front home owners? Or, as a matter of fact, any other lake?

Did the lake front home owners? Or, as a matter of fact, any other lake? I suspect hydrologists, meterologists, and engineers have a great deal of input on this. The decision to let out water involves anylasis of historical , current events, and projections. Every lake in Texas is mangaged this way. As far a downstream uses, a river cannot be dammed and not consider contractual and historical needs of downstreamn users. One factor that is considered is the health of the saltwater bays. No one is stealing Travis water.

LCRA is obligated to give x amount of water per year to the rice farmers further down the Colorado river. The "rice farmers" struck their deal with the LCRA back in the 1940's when Travis was a relatively new lake, and they negotiated a very low price for a set amount of acre-feet per year. But Austin was about 100,000 people back then and relatively few folks lived on the lake. The Highland Lakes were mostly for flood control, electricity production, and agriculture. Not so much anymore.

The problem with the rice theory is that rice is harvested in Sept/Oct. it seems a little counter intuitive that they would flood the fields now since that occurs after its planted in the spring. I think.
