I have a 2007 4 stroke Suzuki 150. Yesterday morning in the middle of the lake, I had trouble getting it started. When I turned the key, the engine struggles a few seconds before firing up with a high rev then engine shuts off after a few seconds. It happened twice. The first time, it took 3 or 4 key turns before it started normally. Second time, it gave us a scare cause it would not start for about 10 mins. I will add that, since it was so windy (even though forecast says 11 mph) I had to use the motor to move around. Trolling motor could barely hold anchor. To move around I would fire up the engine, idle around to find fish without hitting the throttle then shut off engine. Did that for about 2 hours chasing schools of fish before it gave us the scare. I am not sure if turning on and off the engine repeatedly will cause the problem. I was thinking maybe doing so floods the engine with gas. Seems to run fine after it got started. I plan to change the fuel filter. Not sure if that is the cause of the problem either, but its a cheap to do. Is there something else I need to look into?

Check your fuel line, air leaks, bad primer, restriction in fuel line, filters so forth.

sound like you were using more battery juice out than you were putting in.
depthfinders on, maybe livewell, maybe other current drawing devices.
them cranking the motor several times without running long enough to put back in the juice you pulled out .

Its a brand new battery but I did check the connection. My motor has its own cranking battery and my electronics have their own battery. The trolling motor also has its on batteries.
