I was so excited to load up the kayak and head over to Nails Creek and scout out Yegua creek. Arrived to the boat ramp around 7:30am and was on my way not too much longer after I arrived. The water was shallow, but navigable with the kayak. I paddled my way to the dead tree, hoping for a clear opening for the yak. The growth was so thick that it would have been very difficult to pull my kayak through to the creek. I opted to follow the creeks path and ended up finding a dead end. Disappointed, I turned around and sought out Nails creek. Again, no success....It almost seemed blocked by the growth. I decided to call it a day and head back to the boat ramp. I'm hoping that we get a decent amount of rain in the near future. I doubt that Newmans will open any time soon.

Sounds like a good day to me. Just to be on the water makes me smile.

Pretty pic

I actually had plans to paddle up into Nails on Saturday but my fishing partner backed out. I saw that the wind was expected to be over 15 mph so I decided not to go on my own. I'm sure glad I didn't after reading this report.

The good news is that the lake is finally starting to come up. It's only 0.6 feet below normal now.

Thanks for the report.
