I've been stuck kayak fishing all summer because my crankshaft snapped for the 2nd time in a year. The first time it happened I was cruising across the main lake of LL in about 55' of water at about 4500rpm, and in the blink of an eye no motor. We had had the motor rebuilt a couple years earlier because the motor blew a hole in the number one piston. Jasper motors is where we sent the motor to be repaired, and a couple years later the crankshaft snapped. We sent it back and they gave us a new one for half price. The second time it snapped was also on LL behind the old dam about 200 yards off shore on the Lake Dallas side. I was only at 3500rpm when it snapped, and I know I didn't hit anything both times. We sent it to a different repair shop this time and they found that the crankshaft was NOT a Yamaha crank. Now they say they can't get any parts for it. It's a 200hp OX66 saltwater series motor. What is going on?????

My success in life is measured by who I am, what I do, and how hard I work.

Sorry for the problems and I know those repairs are not cheap.

Yamaha is out of the 2 stroke business.

Boats.net lists that crank as ships within 2-3 days. Definitely not a cheap fix.

Yamaha still sells parts for those motors. Hydro tec probably has a reman they can sell you. You can bring to me and I can get a Yamaha crank and rebuild it for you

Sorry to hear all that!

I wouldn't hang a Yamaha on my rig, but that Saltwater Series OX66 is known for being one of the best motors Yamaha has ever built. Those things are bulletproof. But, obviously not in your case,
