While bank fishing, which hook should I use under each of these circumstances:
1. Using fresh cut bait from sunfish, and shrimp, two or three rods in rod holders, can’t comstantly watch rods. Am thinking circle hooks?
2. Using fresh cut bait from sunfish, or shrimp, two or three rods in rod holders, watching rods pretty close. Am thinking either Kale hook or octopus hook?

Targeting eater size cats, mostly channels. Will also bait up and cast dip baits. Will appreciate replies.

Circle hooks for both scenarios.

Unless you're using punch bait, always go with circle hooks no matter what.

I’d use smaller circle Hooks. 2/0-3/0-4/0. They usually will Hook themselves pulling against a float or the rod in rod holder.

I appreciate the replies and will take your advice. Will make it simpler just using circle hooks, not having to change back and forth. Many thanks.

I prefer Kathleen hooks for eaters. They can hook themselves and you can also set the hook when you feel like it.
