That lake is part of the trinity river and has all kinds of fish in it. It floods with the river and tends to be stingy but if you catch it on the right day you can do good. Lots of crappie in the spring when the river is not flooded.

It's very hit and miss, if the baits there the fish are too but most of the time the shad are all up and down the river. I live right by here and have fished it many times, it is only in certain circumstances where there are enough fish to make it worth while. We took our pond hopper out there this May when the river was at normal level with good Garmin DI/SI and scanned the entire opening. Only sport fish we scanned was a school of about 10 sand bass, everything else was carp buffalo and gar.
For example where the creek flows in on the east side sometimes holds sand bass but only when the water is high enough to make it deeper than normal, but too high and the water is chocolate milk...has to be just right for it to be worth fishing. Good area but MOST of the time there are other areas near by that are better.

We took our kayaks out there to bass fish and had no luck in the lake. Up and down the river it was good. It was low flow and clean water then.
