Checked the King Kat website as they have been filling in the 2019 tournament trail events. Still no Tawakoni on the schedule. Seems like i remember some discussion after the tournament last year that W. Tawakoni would evaluate whether or not to continue funding the event. Anyone local to the area have any insight into what has been decided?

We enjoy traveling down to participate but its understandable if the local community can not invest the required money if they aren't seeing the returns in the local economy. Seemed to me the main goal for W. Tawakoni was to attract a chain hotel to the town but it ended up being placed in Emory.

If Cabelas is done on Twok, hopefully someone will pick up the spot and put on a good tournament...maybe one that actually benefits the community.

Use this thread to throw out your ideas...maybe one will catch on and turn into a sustainable annual event. Heck, as long as W. Tawakoni has been involved with Cableas, surely they can put on a top notch event that fisherman would be happy to support!

I just logged on to say exactly what you said. I hope someone puts on a big tournament with better payouts than the Cabela's. I enjoy fishing a tournament or two every year.

Possum Kingdom Catmasters is a HUGE tournament not far from DFW!!

Problem with the Cabelas tournament is they dont pay any $$$ They basically take the city's money put it in their pockets along with the 20% from all the entry fees! Another problem is that their isnt much $$$ in the surrounding community to pull from! The good thing is the lake fishes so well that you might be able to pull it off with outside funding???

I'm gonna miss her....

Let me hit that Powerball and there will be an Annual BigPoppas Catfish Bonanza On Twok. A 3 day tournament with a carnival and petting zoo . OR a 24 hour tourney.........
Somebody should get Mark Cuban into Catfishing.........

Heard west tawakoni was seeking help from surrounding communities to pay for the event. Would hate to see it not happen each year.

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Plus 10 Steve!!!!!!!!!!! And if somebody does a 2 dayer out there they need to just tack on an extra few hours to the fishing day or until dark because a lot of good fish get missed during that eenin round. The toads or on to us. 90 percent of the tourney fisherman live half their lives runnin in the dark anyways... Just my 2 cents though... flehan whip whip whip coach
