Met up with TFFer ntxlandman (Cody) at EM 9AM yesterday to demo Mepps technique and how to use electronics to find fish. We spent until 2PM looking at all my old spots but only had one white bass and one catfish to show for it. We could see fish that looked liked whites, but they just would not bite trying various Mepps sizes and silver spoons. So, we headed north to the area north of Pelican Island. We tried some shallow humps there that Johnny Stevens had shown me. On the last one we finally found fish that would bite - 13 to 15 inch white bass, and they took Mepps 2's and 4's. We caught about 20 there before they left. Next we went over to the east side and checked points along the shore. Found one with lots of fish on it and extended the count to 63 fish - again big sandies. We left there about 4:30PM and looked for more along the shoreline points and drop-offs but only caught 2 more. We quit at 5:15 with a total of 65 fish. Cody picked up the Mepps method quickly and caught plenty of fish.

Here is Cody with 1st white bass caught:

Dennis you have more patience than I do. I fish this lake twice a week and have not had that good of a day in 2 years here. I find fish but do not know what they are nor can a draw a bite. read your articles all the time and enjoy them. keep your hooks wet and be safe.

Thanks for the education Dennis.

I am eager to put the technique to good use. Great day with a Great Fisherman.
