I use yolotek. Gopros will eat up some batteries. The yolotek solves that issue.

Sweet! I tried a couple of cell phones today and they ran up the storage very quick! I had to go back every 10 minutes or so and delete the video it took and it sucked when you catch a fish 3/4's of the way through filming and have to try and upload it to a video app while you're out fishing. I don't care for the go pros as I can't see what I'm videoing while I'm recording. Everytime I've used one im always just a bit out of frame. I've tried the tactacam but that's not much better as you would have to look at your phone or tablet while you're recording.

We do a youtube channel and it is 100% filmed/edited on a cell phone. We switch between a tripod mount, a gimbal and magicarms with aspirations of getting a selfie backpack. It can get dicey, but we get good videos out of our setup. Memory limitations are solved by taking multiple shorter clips rather than a single, long 'take.'

If you are interested we have links to a list of things we use in the description of all our videos on youtube (to much to list to transfer those links here). Have at it, and if you have any questions about any of it I am happy to address anything you got. Good luck and tight lines man!

I went and bought a mirrorless camera as I knew I wanted to do documentary-style films as opposed to just fishing videos. I don't like action cameras because they are too limiting. They're good as wide angle shots, but that's it. I wanted something that would give me full artistic expression, so this isn't a watch-me-go-fishing setup. It's a river-runs-through-it-documentary-film setup:

Panasonic GH4 mirrorless camera
DXA Micro Pro preamp
RODE VideoMic
Canon FD lenses: 24mm, 50mm, 70-210mm
RJ Camera focal reducer
Small Rig GH4 Cage kit

I want to add an AtomOS external recorder to capture more information off the sensor for better color grading.

Here's my latest episode of Juggin'! to get an idea of what I'm talking about:

Sorry for the double post, but if you really want to see what's possible, check out the simplicity of National Geographic's Bob Krist setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Sy1nOGHPY

No reason why we can't achieve the same quality because we all have access to the same gear "low-cost" that he does. Notice how all his equipment is old compared to what out now. You don't have to have the latest greatest.

Check it out. This is National Geographic quality stuff from a real National Geographic photographer who is also doing video with the same gear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Sy1nOGHPY

I use a gopro just make sure to have extra batteries. I usually have 6 batteries with me and once one dies I carry a charger and charge them with a external battery. I have a large SD car also so it can record all day and I just delete when I am done with the video.

I use three cameras on the yak. Two (GoPro Hero 4 and Akaso V50 Pro) are on Railblaza camera booms and the third (GoPro Session)on my head. Making good edits is what kicks my tail. Good luck to ya! cheers

You might check out our powered GoPro mounts. Also, with external power you can use looping feature on your GoPro and only save the good video. Film for 10 hours and yet only save 28 minutes of all the good stuff. YOLOtek.com tx!

I like gopro, I usually get a cigarette lighter and a long cord to run to gopro. I put the post in the back but no seat and mount to that with roll bar mount.

That being said I will probably try yolotek here in a few months. Got an ultrex to buy first lol
