Money making deal for whatever dealership has your truck. They will charge Ford $$$$$$ for the repair and Ford won't even blink an eye. My son-in-law has been a Ford tech for almost 30 years and he told me the dealers make a lot of money off Ford with warranty repairs. Rarely does Ford question anything.

Have to disagree on this one. I worked for a Ford dealer for 7 years. If your SIL thinks warranty work is a money maker that dealership is in trouble. Warranty work pays about 40% of what a customer pays and that's for any manufacturer. Also new guys get stuck with warranty work before they make it up the food chain.

After spending months looking for the right truck to replace my 2006 F-150, I finally found the new truck I wanted at a dealership about 30 minutes away. On Labor Day I walked into the dealership and walked out with my first ever New truck. Last week I'm making my second trip to the lake with the boat in tow and the truck goes into "Limp" mode. I was able to get back home to drop off the boat and then take it to a different Ford dealership right down the road.

It's now a week later and I am told that recall work was performed by the selling dealership and in the process a screw holding the fuel pump in place was over tighten. This eventually led to a second screw breaking off in the head of the engine. The repair is covered under warranty but it will be at least 3 weeks before a replacement head is in stock.

I am now in a rental "car" after having my first new truck for all of 3 weeks.

Has anyone been in a similar predicament and care to offer up some advice? My concerns are future engine issues with the new head, resale value, and currently being in a rental "car" for a month. I would prefer the dealership to replace the broken truck with a new truck but I have no idea if that is even an option. I have reached out to the selling dealership and am waiting to hear back from the service manager.

I also looked into "Lemon Laws" but they do not seem to apply at the moment.
