The last 2 nights of flounder gigging have been a real challenge. Higher winds and tide levels combined with freshwater runoff from last weeks prolific rains have made for horrible water clarity on the flats. The best action continues to be later at night, especially on the slack low tide. The flounder have been widely scattered, with no real pattern to where we are finding the fish. Mud and grass bottom worked best the last 2 nights, with only a few fish on shell.

I had new customer Jeff T. group of 6 onboard tonight. Conditions were poor, with SE wind at 15-20mph and high tide levels. We gigged 2 flounder in the first 10 minutes and then went 2 hours before we found another. After making many moves, we dialed-in on some more productive areas, but it was still slow going. We ended with 18 flounder plus 5 sheepshead by 2:30am.

I had new customer Marcos R. group of 2 onboard tonight. Conditions were poor, with South wind at 15-20mph and very high tide levels. We got a very slow start, with only 1 flounder by 11pm, after 3 hours of gigging. We searched far and wide, but poor water clarity was a big problem everywhere tonight. I never gave up, and eventually found some productive areas later in the trip. We ended with a 10 flounder limit plus 6 sheepshead and 3 black drum by 1:30am. The largest flounder tonight was 22".
